The Waldo Road Reuse and Recycling Centre is set to reopen in November following major upgrade work. There will be a booking system initially, to help manage demand.
The work includes the installation of new drainage and a fire suppression system at the nearby waste transfer station, which is part of the depot. The exact date for the reopening will be announced nearer the time.
Councillor Josh Coldspring-White, Executive Councillor for Environment said, “I am pleased at last to be able to share some positive news about the re-opening of Waldo Road. A big thank you to residents for your patience as the end is now in sight. We will confirm more detail about the opening in the coming weeks as plans and work progress further.”
The temporary weekend disposal site at Baths Road, which opened in January will remain open for weekend appointments until Waldo Road reopens. Weekend garden waste disposal sites across the borough remain open until the end of October.
