Donating unwanted school uniforms

Bromley Brighter Beginnings started 14 years ago with an ambition to support disadvantaged families in Bromley.

With September school term looming they’re appealing for school uniforms to support families who are struggling to afford a new uniform. Too many children in the borough of Bromley start the new school year without the correct uniform – not by choice, but because their families cannot afford it. Current estimates suggest that 6 children in every class of 30 in Bromley are unlikely to be able to afford all the uniform items they need.

Volunteer Natalie Argile said: “Shopping for new school uniform, labelling new items, and sending your child off to school in smart new kit can often be an exciting and proud time for parents but for some families, it is an added stress and financial burden when already struggling to cover the basic needs such as food and shelter.

So Bromley Brighter Beginnings are looking for donations of good quality pre-loved or new generic uniforms for primary school children aged from 4 to 13. They can’t accept any school logo branded items. If you’re considering donating, check the School Uniform Wishlist first.

This sounds like a great cause, especially if you’re not sure what else to do with a uniform your child has outgrown.
