We recently let you know that the Safer Neighbourhood Panel was meeting on 30th June. Peter from the CHVRA reports back on what they discussed and what the plans are for the next 3 months.
The Hayes & Coney Hall Safer Neighbourhoods Panel held its quarterly meeting on the 30th June.
Since the previous meeting in April there have been some changes within the team with Police Sergeant Laura Hunt joining and A/PS Justin Hulf transferring to take up a role within the Police Recruits Training Unit. He will be replaced by Police Constable Matt Brown.
Sergeant Hunt reported that during April, May and June officers have continued to be regularly abstracted from the ward to police Public Order Events – both locally and in Central London, to ensure that response teams are fully manned, for football and to deal with anti social behaviour across Bromley Borough.
Sergeant Hunt reported that officers have been conducting regular patrols around Station Approach, Hayes and other green spaces within the ward which have resulted in two known shoplifters being arrested recently. The team also undertook a number of plain clothes operations in Hayes which resulted in a persistent shoplifter being remanded to court and sentenced to prison.
The team has been managing an emerging issue around anti social behaviour in the area being caused by a small group of young people. The team is working with schools and the Bromley Youth Justice Service to address this issue.
The team has identified an increase in dog related incidents which they will manage during the coming months.
Burglary figures for April, May and June 2026 show a small increase compared to the same period in 2025 whilst Motor Vehicle Crime figures for April, May and June 2026 show a small decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
The issue of speeding motorbikes in Layhams Road was raised with the team to make them aware and for them to take appropriate action.
The team’s priorities for the next 3 months were agreed to be –
- to reduce and prevent crime related offences within the ward
- to deal with anti social behaviour, focusing on youths
- Motor Vehicle crime which will include speeding
The next Panel Meeting will be held on the 13th October.
