Following a rumour circulating on social media about dogs being poisoned across the borough, we contacted the local police and councillors for more information. Earlier this evening the police posted an update via their platform, MET Engage. This is what they said:
“The team just wanted to send out a message following a number of communications about rat poisoning in local parks, with residents concerns about their dogs.
There have been no incidents recorded in the Bromley area, with only one incident recorded in the Bexley area which did not consist of an injured animal. We appreciate this can be distressing for people but it should be reminded that Social media is not always completely accurate so sharing information you don’t know to be correct can cause undue concern.
General Advice: If your pet is believed to have consumed anything suspicious please contact your vet for the appropriate response.
If there is any believed sightings or concerns please call 101.”
Please do share this information with anyone who is concerned, and your local WhatsApp groups. It’s available on the MET Engage website too.
