What a day! Those who visited Coney Hall’s Gardens for Wildlife Open Day yesterday were treated to a warm welcome, inspirational gardens, a riot of colour – and cake, of course. Despite the wet weather it really was a day full of smiles.
If you couldn’t make it, we have lots of photos to share – too many for one post, so we’ll break it up a bit and share more over the coming weeks. Today, here’s a quick snapshot.
From tropical gardens…

To more traditional English gardens…

Nature came out to join the party. There were frogs and toads…

…newts…

And bees.

There were beds full of roses…

And beds full of veg.

We snuck into secret gardens…

…and found portals to other lands.

Even on a grey day there was a riot of colour, from fresh greens…

To jewel-like reds…

Flaming orange…

And abundant pinks.

We saw wildflower meadows…

Gravel gardens…

And inviting garden paths.

And we stopped to admire it all with a glassful of Pimms, a vase of homegrown flowers, and good company.

So many beautiful gardens and good conversations we almost didn’t get around them all! Thank you to everyone who took part – the wonderful hosts and the people of Coney Hall (and beyond) who took the time to visit and chat.
If you’re new here, the Open Gardens Day was organised by EACH – environmental action Coney Hall. They’re dedicated to making the most of our gardens to help make Coney Hall a pollinator village. Look out for more posts about the open day over the next few weeks.
