Free Gentle Sport & Games Sessions

Look out for the new FREE Gentle Sport & Games sessions being held in Sparrows Den. They’re perfect for:

  • Anyone aged 70 and over
  • Family caregivers (any age, with or without the person they care for)
  • People living with dementia

The plan is to provide a companionable boost for your physical and mental wellbeing. Each 1.5 hour session is unique, but has a similar flow including a warm-up, refreshment break, and time to relax and socialise.

Note: the team has 20 years experience delivering activities for people living with dementia. They know that not everyone is ready to accept their diagnosis and so they sensitively don’t emphasise it. At the same time, they also understand the strain family caregivers can be under. Depending on the group composition on the day, they’ll discretely make sure that family caregivers are able to share their experiences in a supportive environment.

Sessions start on 12 May

The sessions are held in Sparrows Den every other Tuesday, from 3:30pm to 5pm on:
12 May 2026
26 May 2026
9 June 2026
23 June 2026
7 July 2026
21 July 2026
After that, they will continue in August, every Saturday from 1pm to 2:30pm, starting on 1 August.

There’s free parking and it’s close to the bus stop too

The sessions take place on the grass, so you’ll need to be able to get onto the field. However, chairs can be provided for those with reduced mobility. The sessions may be less suitable for wheelchair users, though they are happy to advise case by case.

There’s free parking next to the field and the 119 bus stops close by, at Courtfield Rise. Toilets at the rugby club are available throughout – and they have a plan for the weather, should it get too hot, too wet or too cold.

The address is:
Sparrows Den
Corkscrew Hill
BR4 9BB

How to sign up

The sessions are free, thanks to the support of the Bromley KTR Fund. You’re asked to sign up in advance to help plan for the right number of people. If you decide to go on the spur of the moment though, that’s ok too.

Frankly, we think this sounds great. Find out more about how to take part!
