From spring wildflowers to ancient trees and summer bats, this season’s events at Spring Park and West Wickham Common offer a chance to experience these two open spaces through the changing seasons; Join the City of London Ranger to discover signs of spring in the woodland and grassland, learn about the fascinating history and ecology of ancient pollarded trees, and explore the commons after dark on a guided bat walk.

Signs of Spring – Spring Park

Join the Spring Park Ranger for a guided walk through ancient woodland and grassland, discovering wildflowers and the many signs of spring at their very best. £3 per person. Booking via Eventbrite.

Bat Walk – Spring Park 
Thursday 11 June 9pm-10.30pm

Experience Spring Park as it transforms at dusk on a guided bat walk through its quieter corners and Ancient Woodland. Using bat detectors, we’ll uncover the hidden world of these elusive nocturnal animals. £3 per person. Booking via Eventbrite.

Ancient Pollard Walk – West Wickham Common

Step back in time and discover the living history of West Wickham Common on this guided walk exploring its ancient pollard trees. Shaped by centuries of traditional woodland management, these remarkable trees were once regularly cut to provide a sustainable source of timber and fuel, creating the distinctive, gnarled forms we see today. £3 per person.
