Safer Neighbourhoods Panel: update

CHVRA member Peter Hodges brings you an update from the Safer Neighbourhoods panel.

The Hayes & Coney Hall Safer Neighbourhoods Panel held its quarterly meeting on the 2 April.

It was reported that during the past 12 months there has been a total of 611 offences across the ward, compared to 637 offences during the previous 12 months. This figure of 611 offences should be looked at in comparison with the top 10 wards for offences ranging from Bromley Town Centre with 3014 to Mottingham with 1124.

Theft from and theft of motor vehicles remain the most reported crimes on the ward. Burglary and robbery offences have reduced.

Officers are continuing to be regularly abstracted from the ward due to public order events in Central London and to backfill the response teams to ensure that emergency calls are responded to.

It was confirmed that additional no cycling signs have been put up on West Wickham and Hayes Commons.

It was reported that Bromley Council has submitted an application to the London Mayor for speed cameras to be installed in Bourne Vale, Baston Road, Gates Green Road, Heathfield Road and Pickhurst Lane – the installation of any new speed cameras is a decision by the Mayor.

A request was made for speeding in Baston Manor Road and West Common Road to be monitored. This request will be forwarded to the Road Safety Unit to consider.

Incidents of e-bikes / mopeds being ridden in Coney Hall Recreation Ground were highlighted, which the team noted and will monitor.

The team’s priorities for the next 3 months will continue to be: Vehicle crime, Anti – Social Behaviour and speeding operations.

The team will also be working with the West Wickham team to target shoplifting as it is very likely that the same people are committing offences in both locations.

The next Panel Meeting will be held on the 30 June 2026.
