Books in the Park – Beckenham Place Park

Books in the Park, on Saturday 25 April, is an annual celebration of books, community, and the restorative power of nature, set in the beautiful surroundings of Beckenham Place Park. Although it’s not in Coney Hall, it’s also not too far away and it looks like a great event.

It’s a book festival for adults and children, from 9am to 8pm, with:

  • author talks and writing workshops
  • children’s events and book swaps
  • pop up book shops and author signings
  • guided walks and a farmers’ market

This year, They’re hosting a special tribute to former local resident David Bowie to mark the 10th anniversary of his legacy.

Entrance to the festival overall is free, while individual events are ticketed. See the list of events for adults, and the events for children. There’s also a list of general festivities.

Organised by Arts in the Park CIC (founded by the Park’s community gardeners), they hosted their first event in April 2024. Now, two years on, they’ve been overwhelmed by the reception to their previous events, so they’re back with another exciting programme – with something for everyone.

Books in the Park isn’t just about books; it’s about bringing people together where stories and nature meet. So why not take a look at the programme and see if anything grabs you.
