Consultation + more: Hayes Farm development

Before Christmas, news spread of a proposal for a new development of up to 2,200 new homes on Hayes Farm in Bromley. This was a shock to lots of people, because as far as everyone knew, this was greenbelt land, and greenbelt land is protected from development. Berkeley Homes, the developers who put the proposal together are pushing to reclassify the land as ‘grey belt’ – and you can build on grey belt land.

On 18 November 2025, Berkeley Homes held an open consultation, for people to view the proposals and submit their feedback. The event was busy: Berkeley Homes said that 1,003 people attended, and that 39% of residents supported their initial proposals.

In December 2025, the councillors said they ‘oppose developments like Hayes Farm’ – but in a weird linguistic twist, didn’t say they actually opposed the Hayes Farm development itself. They have now made that clearer.

Next consultation: Thursday 19 March, 7pm to 8pm

Berkeley Homes are now launching a second round of public consultation, which runs from 12 to 27 March. This is your opportunity to review the updated proposals for Ravensbourne Place, speak with the team and share your feedback.

Here’s how to get involved:

1. Explore the proposals online: visit their website to view the updated proposals

2. Join the live webinar Thursday 19 March, 7pm to 8pm: they are hosting an online webinar where they’ll present the updated plans and answer questions. You can ask questions during the event, but they encourage you to add questions when you sign up for the webinar.

If you can’t make it, sign up anyway – a recording will be uploaded after the session.

3. Give your feedback: you can share your views by completing the survey on their website, available throughout the consultation period – you’ll find the survey at the bottom of their website.

4. Register for updates: sign up to receive email updates about the project.

If you know someone who would like to take part but doesn’t have internet access, get in touch with their team, and they will do what they can to help:
