The councillors have let us know that UK Power Networks (UKPN) have closed Shire Lane, Downe today, Wednesday 25 February, for urgent works relating to an electrical fault. The road is closed outside Holwood Cottages, near the junction of New Road Hill and is likely to remain closed for the next few days.
The Council understands UKPN are diverting through Downe Village and have requested for the diversion to be changed to run via A233, A232 and A21 instead.
Upcoming closures on Layhams Road
Monday 2 March – between Sheepbarn Lane and Nash Lane
Openreach will be closing Layhams Road for up to two consecutive nights from Monday 2 March while they complete fibre optic related works. The road will be closed overnight between the hours of 9pm to 6am on each night, in various locations between the Sheepbarn Lane and Nash Lane. Local signed diversions will be in place for motorists.
UPDATE: The planned roadworks for 14 March have been cancelled for now. We’ll let you know as soon as we have a new date.
