Bromley council “opposes developments like Hayes farm”

There’s no real news on the proposed development of up to 2,200 new homes on Hayes Farm, but in their latest newsletter, the councillors have said that Bromley Council has “confirmed its opposition to developments on sites like Hayes Farm.” Cllr Yvonne Bear, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Renewal, Recreation & Housing, said the Council “did not recognise the term ‘Grey Belt’” – this is underused Green Belt land which has been reclassified to make it available for development.

Meanwhile, the developers have closed their initial consultation, and thanked those who took time to share their comments. They have said, “We are now carefully reviewing all the feedback we have received and will use it to feed into the design process.”

If the planning application goes ahead

Don’t forget, if Berkeley Homes do submit a planning application in the new year, you must make your views known at that stage, via the Bromley Council website.

There are currently two petitions against the proposal, but they will not count as an official objection to the proposals. However, if you are against the proposal and would like to share your views and connect with others, these are the petitions:

Residents we have spoken to in Coney Hall currently have mixed opinions about the development. Many are concerned about the additional pressure on local schools, transport and public amenities, others are concerned about Bromley’s failure to reach its housing targets in the past, leaving people with fewer options in the borough.

If we get any more news, we’ll let you know.
