The Safer Neighbourhoods Panel comprises of the local Police Team, Local Councillors, the Senior Ranger for West Wickham Common and representatives of Hayes, Coney Hall and Keston residents. The Panel meets on a quarterly basis and Panel members have the opportunity to raise issues affecting their areas for discussion. Based on these discussions, the Panel agrees on the priorities for the Police Team for the next 3 months.
Peter Hodges attends the panel on behalf of CHVRA, and this is the feedback from the latest event.
The Hayes & Coney Hall Ward Safer Neighbourhoods Panel held its quarterly meeting on the 3rd December.
It was reported that during the past 12 months there has been a total of 637 offences across the ward, which is 41 fewer than the previous 12 months. This represents a 6% reduction.
This figure of 637 offences should be looked at in comparison to the top 10 wards for offences ranging from Bromley Town Centre with 2927 to Farnborough & Crofton with 1115.
Theft from and theft of motor vehicles remain the most reported crimes on the ward.
During the past 3 months, the police team has carried out speed operations in Mead Way, Bourne Vale and Heathfield Road. Gates Green Road is on their list of roads to monitor.
Officers are continuing to be regularly abstracted from the ward due to public order events in Central London and to backfill the response teams to ensure that emergency calls are responded to.
The issue of inconsiderate parking near Wickham Common School was mentioned to the councillors.
The Senior Ranger for West Wickham Common confirmed that additional no cycling signs will be put up in response to the recent increase in cycling on the common. The local councillors will look into having additional signage on Hayes Common.
It was agreed that the team’s priorities for the next 3 months will continue to be: -Vehicle Crime, Anti – social behaviour patrols and speeding operations.
The next Panel Meeting will be held on the 5th March 2026.
