Running across the Spring and Summer terms of 2026, the ArtsTrain’s Academies are running a free songwriting and performance programme for young musicians aged 13-17 in Bromley and Bexley boroughs.
They’re giving young people the opportunity to meet like-minded musicians, form exciting 12-piece bands, write and perform their own original songs and develop their creativity and performance skills along the way. The programme will culminate in a live performance and a professional recording studio trip.
They are looking for applications from:
- Core band: Drummers, guitarists, bass & keys players
- Vocalists: Singers, rappers and spoken word artists
- Melodic section: Horns, strings, woodwind & more
What do the Academies offer?
The Academies offer the support and facilities to:
- Write and develop songs in a relaxed, creative space
- Develop skills in songwriting and performance
- Meet and collaborate with like-minded musicians / singers
- Advice and guidance from our professional industry music leaders
- Access to performance opportunities and recording studio time
Who are they looking for?
They’re looking for musicians, rappers, singers and songwriters aged 13-17, who are:
- Based in Bromley or Bexley
- Serious about your potential as a musician
- Open to stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring new genres
- Able to commit to weekly sessions
When and where is it?
Bromley Academy:
Location: Churchill Theatre Bromley
Mondays, 4:30 to 6:30pm
19 January – 30 March 2026 (No session Feb Half term)
Bexley Academy:
Location: The Exchange, Erith
Thursdays 5pm to 7pm
22 January – 2 April 2026 (No session Feb half term)
Final performance – date TBC
