The councillors have reported that local residents got in touch about the number of driving lessons taking place in the car park at the Rec. They have contacted the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) who have now asked local driving instructors to limit their use of the carpark for learner drivers and driving tests.
Talking of parking, we still have no news on the yellow lines for Layhams Road. It looks like we’re still on the list. We do know that the number of cars parking on the road by the Rec has increased in recent weeks. We assume the advice remains the same: “should you have any concerns about cars parked dangerously on that section of road, you can log the incident, and the team will quickly respond.”
The councillors have also begun a petition to tackle speeding across Hayes and Coney Hall. This is almost a year after they reported that new Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) would be installed in multiple locations across Hayes where speeding is prevalent, including Bourne Vale, Baston Road and Pickhurst Lane. At the time they said “These signs have been proven to reduce vehicle speeds by up to 70% on roads where they have been installed.” They are now asking for funding from Transport for London (TfL) to instal speed cameras. Bromley Council provides funds for most traffic calming measures, but TfL is responsible for the cameras. Find out more about Road safety and calming measures on Bromley Council’s website.
