You may remember that back in July, after months of admin work and some incredible donations from local families and businesses, the multi-use games area (MUGA) was opened in the park. The committee members responsible for the fundraising are all local volunteers who care about the park and want to provide better facilities for local residents and park users – and hopefully that means you!
Unfortunately, underage bikers (often on stolen motorbikes and scooters) and local vandals seem intent on ruining the park for everyone. They’ve been riding illegally in the grounds and tampering with the MUGA.
The police have been informed and will monitor the park closely. However, it will be quicker for them to prosecute with more information, so please report anything suspicious, or dangerous that you see. These are the different ways you can make a report:
- via the online reporting tools or live chat at www.met.police.uk
- call the non-emergency number 101
- stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
And of course, in an emergency, always call 999.
Two more things you can do:
- Make sure your own bikes and scooters are secure – the bikes and scooters used in the park are often stolen or using false plates.
- Let your local street WhatsApps and community groups know, so that if they spot anything in the park, they can report it too.
