You may remember that in March 2024, Penso Power applied for planning permission to install a battery energy storage system (BESS) on land at Holmshaw Farm, Layhams Road. The council refused the application and so the installation did not go ahead.
In December last year, Penso Power submitted another application. This time to use land north of Warbank Social Club, Layhams Road, Keston. You can see the application on Bromley’s planning website. Permission was refused on 28 July 2025, and an appeal is now in progress. This is a cross boundary application involving both Bromley, and the London Borough of Croydon.
For anyone interested, you can view all the supporting documents online, including agricultural, archeological and environmental assessments.
Don’t forget, if you fee strongly for or against the application, you can always contact your ward councillors. In the meantime, when we get any more information, we’ll let you know.
