Don’t forget, West Wickham’s newly refurbished library opens this Friday 27 June. It’s in the same place: Glebe Way, West Wickham BR4 0SH.
The Mayor will officially open the library at 11am. To celebrate, a special day of activities is planned, from 11:30am to 5pm. The plans include craft workshops, art activities and a children’s session with local author Peter Bently.
The multi-million-pound refurbishment has created a host of new facilities for residents with a modern café, business lounge and an expanded children’s library with outdoor space amongst the highlights contained within the attractive new exterior.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “I’m sure residents passing by during the works have been curious about this landmark building as it has taken form in the heart of West Wickham and I encourage residents to soon explore the impressive new facilities firsthand. We use libraries throughout our lives and not just for books, which is why the council have long supported the borough’s beloved library network. Recent improvements across our libraries continue to drive their popularity, while ensuring they have the resources needed to support residents long into the future.”
Some of you may remember that while the refurbishments were in progress, the library moved to Coney Hall and our very own sun trap house.
