It’s a stag do – and you’re invited!

The People’s Trust for Endangered species are running the Great Stag Hunt. They’re asking people to record sightings of any stag beetles they see. Although stag beetles are an endangered species, we’ve definitely seen one or two around Coney Hall – have you?

How to take part in the hunt

You will need do the count six times between the 1 June to 31 July. It only takes half an hour and is only carried out in warm, dry weather – what could be better? You can either count stag beetles along a 500m walk (transect), or from a fixed point in your garden (point count).

Here’s a video guide to help you carry out the survey.

The Bromley Biodiversity Partnership is also collecting information about stag beetles, so if you do spot some, share your findings with them too. See their poster to find out more.
