Help water the new trees on your street!

Here’s the news: we’ve got new trees on our streets, it’s currently the driest spring in over a century and the trees need water. You can help by adopting a tree and watering it.

What’s in it for you?

Good question:

  • A live tree on your street instead of a dead one.
  • Cleaner air for you, and if you have them, your children.
  • Shade for your pavements, and for those who drive, your cars.
  • Reduced impact of heavy rainfall
  • A habitat for wildlife

Adopt a tree

Talk to the people on your street and plan who’s going to water which one. That way, we’ll make sure each one will get the love it deserves. And if you do adopt a tree, can you let Sarah at EACH know? Then she can be sure we’ve got them all covered. Her email address is sarahlouisechant@icloud.com

Top tips for watering

If the water in your kitchen takes a little while to heat up, run the cold or tepid water into a jug, water bottle or even a bucket and use it to water the trees, instead of letting it go to waste. Rainwater is also great, but as we haven’t had much recently, you can even use bathwater or washing up water.

Ideally the best time to water your tree is first thing in the morning. As the trees in Coney Hall have watering bags, add the water straight to the bag.

C’mon. Together we can do this. 💪
