Parking update: Layhams Road double yellow lines

As many of you know, and have raised with us, parking is an issue at the bottom end of Layhams Road. As the yellow lines stop at the blind bend, cars are legally allowed to park there which causes a hazard on busy days. Back in February, we were told that the lines would be installed in 6 to 8 weeks.

Facebook users may have seen that the councillors posted about this on Monday. As we know many people don’t use or have access to Facebook, this is what they said:

“We are pleased to update residents that the formal notices in the News Shopper for an extension of double yellow lines on Layhams Road will be published on the 30th April.

Once published, residents have 21 days to reply to the consultation. If no objections are received, work can begin. In the meantime, the Council will begin preparing for works so they can be completed as quickly as possible.”

For those who are interested, this is the formal notice.

If there are no objections and we receive any news about the work going ahead, we’ll let you know.
