The blue plaque to commemorate local resident Elsy Borders is being officially unveiled at 81 Kingsway on Saturday 12th April, at 3pm. Do pop along and join us.
UPDATE: The event was a huge success. See the photos and video of the day.
Elsy Borders was a pioneer who changed the course of legal history. Leading a nationwide mortgage strike, she shook the very foundations of the political and economic basis of housing policy in Britain. A hero to homeowners nationwide, she made national and international news – and more recently was celebrated in the BBC Radio documentary: A House Called Insanity.
CHVRA have been campaigning for a blue plaque to celebrate Elsy for many years. As a woman of local and national importance it seems only right that we remember her and honour her legacy.
