Library move means house becomes a home

For those who didn’t know, West Wickham library had a temporary home on Addington Road, next to the doctors’ surgery. This has now closed while the library packs up and relocates to a new, improved building at Glebe way, West Wickham. The new building should open some time in April.

It’s easy to overlook the buildings on your doorstep, but if you didn’t know, the library’s temporary home in Coney Hall was once awarded the ideal home of the year. A great example of art-deco architecture, it still retains many of its original features. Thanks to Sam, who works with CHVRA and keeps an eye on planning applications, we know that planning permission has been granted to turn this building back into a home. If you missed your chance to look inside, you can find out more about it – and the rest of Coney Hall, in our history section.
