As many of you have raised concerns about road safety around Wickham Common Primary School, we’re sharing an update from Cllr. Josh Coldspring-White. He says:
“The Council’s traffic team have recently informed me that a further study has shown that a pedestrian crossing would be unfeasible. Although they did suggest a further 30mph flashing sign, the funding for these is currently unavailable, as the scheme to install these has now run out of funds. I have asked the traffic team to add Gates Green Road to a list of sites to be considered for this as and when funding becomes available, and they have agreed.
I realise this is not the answer you will have hoped for in terms of immediate action. Please do rest assured my colleagues and I will continue to advocate for action to tackle speeding on Gates Green Road. Hopefully, the commitment for a VAS sign in future gives you peace of mind the Council will take action when funding streams are available.”
