The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours and communities, with millions of people coming together for a few hours of friendship, food and fun. It connects people and encourages friendlier, safer communities where people start to share more – conversations, ideas, skills, resources and friendship. This year, Big Lunch is happening on 7th to 8th June.
Party organisers always need the council’s permission to hold an event on the road or pavement, and fees normally apply if a road needs to be closed. But the road closure fees are being waived in support of the Big Lunch and to support the council’s Street Friends initiative.
If you’d like to arrange a Big Lunch on your street, the council is reminding people to apply in good time: the closing date for applications is 3 March 2025.
